Last year, the Golden State Warriors traded Jordan Poole to the Washington Wizards, ending an often tense relationship between Poole and Draymond Green. Their strained relationship even led to Green infamously punching Poole during a practice before the 2022-23 season.
This tension resurfaced recently when the Warriors faced the Wizards at Capital One Arena. Near the end of the second quarter, Poole sank a deep three-pointer over Green and pointed at his former teammate. However, moments later, Steph Curry stole the spotlight.
After taking a few dribbles, he made a lob pass to Green, who quickly returned the ball to a sprinting Curry. After a quick fake and a dribble, Curry nailed a buzzer-beating three-pointer over Poole to end the half. This prompted the 34-year-old forward to return the favor to Poole.
The exchange of gestures between Poole and Green was a clear continuation of their on-court rivalry. Green, who recently opened up on failed Lauri Markkanen trade, took the opportunity and pointed back at Poole in response to the Wizards guard’s earlier gesture. The duo was involved in constant back-and-forth during the game.
Draymond Green Explains Victor Wembanyama’s Sophomore Struggles
On a recent episode of The Draymond Green Show, Draymond Green offered his take on Victor Wembanyama’s early struggles in his second NBA season. Green explained that Wembanyama’s slump isn’t unusual for young players entering their sophomore year.
“It’s not the first time that everybody has seen you. There are game plans built to stop you. So, you have to adjust to that. I think Wemby is going through what most of us go through where he has to make those adjustments. I think what he’ll start to learn is he’s shooting 23% from three; some of [those shots] are bad, and to start picking and choosing his spots,” Green said.
