Social media went nuts this morning after the news of Utah Jazz star Donovan Mitchell testing positive for the coronavirus, which was hours after teammate Rudy Gobert became the first major athlete in the United States to get it.
Gobert’s diagnosis led to the postponement of Wednesday’s game against the Oklahoma City Thunder as well as the suspension of the 2019-2020 season.
“We are working closely with the CDC, Oklahoma and Utah state officials, and the NBA to monitor their health and determine the best path moving forward,” the Jazz said in a statement.
Hours later, Mitchell took to Instagram and updated everybody on his condition.
“We are all learning more about the seriousness of this situation and hopefully people can continue to educate themselves and realize that they need to behave responsibly both for their own health and for the well being of those around them,” Mitchell wrote.

Jazz players are privately saying that Gobert took the virus lightly by purposely touching teammates and their belongings. It was earlier this week where Gobert was seen touching all the microphones and tape recorders at the end of his session with reporters before running off.
For most people, the coronavirus causes only mild or moderate symptoms, such as fever and cough.
