Dominique Wilkins, known as “The Human Highlight Film,” and Chicago Bulls legend Michael Jordan’s on-court battles were described as among the most fierce of all time. The Atlanta Hawks legend recently spoke about the six-time NBA champion’s career and claimed he couldn’t have won the championships without his legendary teammates.
The nine-time NBA All-Star appeared on the JAXXON Podcast and discussed the Chicago Bulls’ “special pieces” that helped Jordan win six championships. He said, “If you look at the championships with Chicago for example. Mike [Jordan] doesn’t get six championships without those other pieces.”
“Scottie [Pippen], Horace Grant, [Toni] Kukoc, and eventually Dennis Rodman, all those people. [Steve] Kerr, [John] Paxson, I mean, they were all special pieces to those championship teams and you can’t win without it.”
The 64-year-old NBA legend wasn’t critical of Michael Jordan but stated that a team wins a championship, not an individual. While Jordan became a dominating force in his first few seasons, he could win his first championship only after the arrival and development of Scottie Pippen. Later, legendary players like Dennis Rodman and Steve Kerr helped the Bulls achieve further success.

“I saw it in him in college when he was a freshman, I was a junior and I saw it then, the toughness, the determination, the will to win. That was just common knowledge back then. So I didn’t need to see the documentary to know that a lot of stuff was factual.”
Before playing against each other in the NBA, Wilkins and Jordan played against each other during college. The Bulls legend attended the University of North Carolina, and Wilkins represented the Georgia Bulldogs in college basketball.
