Donovan Clingan, the rookie phenom of the Portland Trail Blazers, had a disappointing debut in the summer league, with his team losing 83-77 to the San Antonio Spurs. However, the 20-year-old player made a comeback in the game against the Philadelphia 76ers, impressing everyone with a massive poster dunk over Philadelphia 76ers forward Adem Bona. His incredible move thrilled the audience and excitedly made his teammates jump out of their seats.
However, Bona was questioned about the Clingan’s poster dunk in a postgame interview. The 21-year-old 76ers player responded by claiming that the dunk had no impact on his life. A shot blocker is constantly dunked on because you are going to leap, he explained. He went on to add that he would continue to jump and try to block each shot.
“That doesn’t change anything for me. A shot blocker always gets dunked on because you’re gonna jump … I’m probably gonna get caught a couple more times, and I’m gonna keep jumping and try to block every shot.” Bona said during a post-game interview.
Donovan Clingan Disappointed by Tough Loss to the Spurs
After the tough loss to the Spurs, Clingan expressed disappointment about his performance in a post-game interview. He mentioned that he is more focused on defense and will strive to be the best defender.
“I wish I had rebounded the ball a little bit better in that first half. But I was able to figure it out in that second half and do better on that end. No matter how poorly you play on the offensive end, that shouldn’t affect your defense. The defense wins the ballgame. So, you have to protect the rim at a high level. You’ve got to help your team win, and that’s all I want to do. So, I was just trying to be the best defender because I knew offensively tonight was not my night.” Clingan said.
It will be fascinating to see Clingan’s performance in the upcoming games for the Trail Blazers.
