Dillon Brooks was the butt of jokes in the NBA after trash-talking LeBron James, getting dumped out of the playoffs, and then getting thrown under the bus by the Memphis Grizzlies. But the forward is having the last laugh as he’s secured an unbelievable deal with the Houston Rockers.
With the Rockets looking to put a formidable team on the floor in 2023 and Ime Udoka now the head coach, they’ve opted to acquire the Canadian as part of a sign-and-trade deal.
According to Adrian Wojnarowski, Brooks has signed a four-year deal with Houston that will see him earn $86 million, as well as another potential $4 million in incentives that could take the figure to a cool $90 mil.
This means Brooks will be the second-highest-paid player on the Rockets’ roster as they recently signed Fred VanVleet to a three-year deal worth $130 million.
While Brooks is no Draymond Green, he is still a solid defensive player who could make life difficult for the best of them, though it’s hoped that he’s learned from the mistakes he made in the playoffs. The former Oregon star went at the man considered to be the greatest player ever and ended up looking foolish. Even the Grizzlies were unhappy with him when the dust settled.
He now has an opportunity to do something special in Houston. The upcoming season could be an intriguing one for Rockets fans.
