Jaylen Brown had a lot of responsibilities to keep his Boston Celtics teammates focused for Saturday night’s game against the Cleveland Cavaliers following a disappointing loss on their home court.
During an interview, Brown told the reporters what he discussed with his peers before entering the third game of the semifinal series. “Making sure before the game, at film, shoot-around, talking to everybody, touching everybody, letting everybody know like, ‘Hey, we’re not here to play around. We didn’t come to Cleveland for the weather. So let’s go,'” Brown said.
The 3-time All-Star’s words motivated the team to take the 2-1 lead at the end. They were by far the superior team throughout the first three quarters, and although they suffered a little in the final quarter, the damage was already done, as the Celtics came out with a 106-93 victory.
Donovan Mitchell, as usual, dropped a great performance but didn’t get much support from his Cavaliers teammates. Whereas, the Celtics’ offense was strongly led by Brown and Jayson Tatum, who needed extra motivation from the former.
Mics Detect Jaylen Brown Firing Up Jayson Tatum
Jayson Tatum has showcased phenomenal performances this regular season but is facing criticism for not putting up the expected numbers in the post-season tournament. His numbers have dropped from 26.9 points per game in the regular season to 21.2 points per game in the playoffs till Game 2. However, things changed in Game 3, thanks to Jaylen Brown acting as his hype man.
In the middle of the game, when Tatum visibly seemed lost for a moment, Brown hyped him up by saying, “Tell them to stop playing with you. I’m big deuce! I’m big deuce! come on!” The name Deuce actually belongs to Tatum’s son, so Brown’s strategy worked wonders for both the forward and the Celtics.

After struggling to score, especially in the second round of the series, the 5-time All-Star added a joint game-high 33 points coupled with 13 rebounds and 6 assists, while Brown contributed 28 points, 9 rebounds, and 3 assists.
With the duo giving their best, the Boston franchise looks confident again to run for their 18th championship title. The teams will meet again on Monday at the Rocket Mortgage FieldHouse for Game 4 and motivation for the Cs won’t be a problem thanks to Jaylen Brown.
