The Dallas Mavericks staged an incredible comeback against the Boston Celtics in the NBA Finals series. After losing three straight games, Dallas finally found relief by winning a game. In the fourth game of the series, Dallas defeated Boston 122-84. Dallas player Dereck Lively II amazed everyone at the American Airlines Center with a stunning performance, finishing with 11 points, 12 rebounds, and an amazing 3-pointer.
After giving a mind-blowing performance, Lively opened up about his mindset in the intense Game 4 against the Celtics during a post-game interview with NBA TV. The 20-year-old Dallas player mentioned that the Mavericks should be aggressive and desperate while playing in the NBA Finals. He also mentioned that they are playing desperately and giving their best to win the championship. He also referred to Dallas as a premier brand in basketball.
“We just gotta be the aggressor; we gotta play desperate. … Whenever we came out..just doing whatever we can and playing desperate, that’s when we found ourselves playing our best brand of basketball,” Lively said.
Dereck Lively II Scored His Career’s First 3-Pointer
In addition to Lively’s amazing 3-pointer, Luka Doncic, the standout player for Dallas, also contributed to the team’s success. The Slovenian basketball player maintained his average and scored 29 points, five assists, and five rebounds in his 33 minutes of play. Meanwhile, Mavericks guard Kyrie Irving delivered an impressive performance, finishing with 21 points, six assists, and four rebounds.
After Game 4, Doncic praised Lively for the double-double contribution, mentioning that Lively played amazingly throughout the season.
The Mavericks must-win Game 5, scheduled for Monday at TD Garden, to stay in the series and have a chance to win the championship. On the other hand, if the Celtics win the next game, they will secure their 18th title as champions.
