The Denver Nuggets are locked in an NBA Finals affair with the Miami Heat, yet they’ve still found some time to agree to a trade.
According to ESPN NBA insider Adrian Wojnarowski, the Nuggets are getting a 2024 first-round pick from the Oklahoma City Thunder, with the 37th overall pick in this year’s draft, and a 2024 second-round pick also part of the package. The Thunder are set to receive a protected 2029 first-round pick in exchange.
Woj notes that the Nuggets are trying to make the most of their championship window at the lowest cost possible, while OKC has secured a first-round pick they could capitalize on years down the road. The Nuggets already owe the Thunder a top-five protected first-round pick for 2027.
Denver has lots of money committed to their stars, Nikola Jokic, Jamal Murray, Michael Porter Jr., and Aaron Gordon. The trade will allow them to add some talent to their roster for the upcoming NBA season without having to break the bank.
For now, though, their focus should be on winning a championship.

The Nuggets took a 2-1 lead in their series vs. the Heat on Wednesday night, with Game 4 set for this Friday. They will hope to leave Miami with a 3-1 advantage, yet the Heat have continuously defied the odds in the postseason and the fact that they’ve already won a game was shocking enough as the Nuggets were tipped to sweep them.
