Just horrific news in 2020 as the world lost a great man in Kobe Bryant and his daughter, as they were among five people killed in a helicopter crash in Calabasas, California. Bryant was on his way to a travel basketball game with his 13-year-old daughter Gianna Bryant when the helicopter crashed and the news of it shocked the nation.
Shortly after the NBA weighed their options on whether to play their slate of games today, but ultimately decided to since the Nuggets and Rockets were just minutes away.
Before the game, the Pepsi Center held a chilling moment of silence for Kobe as some fans could be heard screaming his name in the darkness.
The crash comes one day after Bryant was passed by Los Angeles Lakers forward LeBron James for third place on the NBA’s all-time scoring list.
Kobe actually tweeted about it and it turned out to be his final tweet.
