Celebrations quickly went sour as a mass shooting took place in the wee hours of Tuesday morning in an area where fans were soaking up the win.
Per TMZ, Denver police said the incident occurred about a mile away from the Nuggets’ Ball Arena around 12:30 AM. However, details have not been made available, with the authorities describing the situation as “complex.”
One of the injured people has been identified as a suspect while three are in critical condition. The rest are understood to have sustained non-life-threatening injuries.
“As far as what led up to this altercation that resulted in the shots being fired, that’s still under investigation at this time,” a spokesperson for the Denver Police Department said. “It did occur in the area where we had the largest gathering of folks celebrating during the night.”

Fans were seen climbing street poles before throwing themselves into crowds, with others letting off fireworks.
It’s a shame the celebrations had to be cut short by such an incident. But the city is expecting to host a championship parade this coming Thursday.
