As fans, we can only hope and pray for the mental health of Delonte West.
A few weeks ago, social media was once again worried about him after he was seen panhandling on Richmond Highway in Alexandria, Va. The 38-year-old has struggled with substance abuse, mental health issues, and bipolar disorder in recent years.
A YouTuber decided to get in contact with the former NBA player and conduct an interview. What resulted from it was truly heartbreaking.
“You try to chat it up a little bit, talk about you feel me, you life and shit. I’m trying to give you some of this money and go get you some food.”
The YouTuber eventually links with West and answers questions about his time with Mark Cuban, the Dallas Mavs owner who came and picked him up from a corner store after he heard about his situation.
“I suffered from mental health you know, I got early stages of the MS. I’m just losing my thoughts. Sometimes I forget I even played basketball.”
