It’s hard to tell exactly what’s going on with Delonte West these days. One moment he seems to be getting his life back on track. Then, the next thing you know, he’s spotted on the streets, panhandling for money.
West appeared to be on a straight line once again, as it was reported last year that he had gotten himself a job at the drug rehabilitation center that he checked into with Mark Cuban, after the Mavs owner picked Delonte up off the street back in September 2020.

However, just last week footage had gone viral showing West once again panhandling on the streets.
It was a tough image to see, but according to a recent interview with West, we have nothing to be worried about.
West recently spoke with Image Direct, telling them that he’s “doing OK” and is “in-between jobs” at the moment.

“It is what it is,” West told the outlet regarding the footage of him panhandling that went viral last week. “I got children. I’m in between jobs. People can help me as much as they can, but you know, as a man, I gotta do what I gotta do for my babies.”
West claimed that he had been working for the Dallas Mavericks and Boston Celtics as a scout over the past three seasons. He feels like a head coaching gig could be heading his way next.
“I was actually looking forward to being a head coach or assistant coach in the NBA this season but like I said, it’s a business that have a lot of people involved and wanna stay involved,” he said regarding his future in coaching. “Prayerfully, luckily I’ll be up for discussion this upcoming season.”
West also stated that, while he was disappointed he didn’t make the BIG3 last year, he still plans on trying out for next season and will be in attendance to root on his friends.
“I was excited to have the opportunity,” he said, “I’ll be there next season. I’ll be there rooting guys on.”
