Former NBA player Delonte West claimed he was doing just fine after a viral video emerged last week showing him panhandling on the side of the road in Virginia.
“It is what it is,” West told The Image Direct when asked how he is doing in wake of the video.
“I got children. I’m in between jobs. People can help me as much as they can, but you know, as a man I gotta do what I gotta do for my babies,” added West,
West, the 24th overall pick by the Celtics in the 2004 NBA Draft, has now landed a flooring job this week after some amazing folks heard about his tough situation and wanted to help him out.
Via TMZ:
“We’re told the team at the Beyer Subaru car dealership in Alexandria, Virginia saw the stories about West and noticed he had been asking for money nearby … so they put their heads together to figure out a way to help him earn some dough.
As it turns out, the dealership is currently getting some floor work done … so they asked the company in charge of the project if West could lend a hand.
We’re told the flooring company was thrilled to have the extra help … and West has been working with them for the past two days — and doing a great job!!”

We can only hope West can keep this up, because we’ve seen him in good situations before, only for him to fall right back into old habits
In February, West made headlines when video footage showed the former NBA guard getting shots up in the gym. At the time, he was training to try out for Ice Cube’s BIG3 league. West reportedly “no-showed” for the league’s draft last month.
