Delonte West has been through a lot ever since his final NBA season with the Dallas Mavericks in 2011-12. From living on the streets to run-ins with the law, there have been several rough patches for the 38-year-old former first round pick over the past decade or so.
His latest run-in involved a drunken outburst at a police station, which resulted in charges of obstruction/resisting without violence, open container and disorderly intoxication.
Many in the NBA world have been praying for West in hopes that he can finally turn things around and get his life in order. Based on a recent report from TMZ, it appears as though he’s taken a step in the right direction.
According to the report, West recently tried out for the BIG 3 basketball league at the Athletic Republic in Washington D.C. No word on how the tryout went, but the footage of West shooting threes looks promising.
Could this be the opportunity that finally turns West’s life around and points him back in the right direction? Can he regain that form that saw him average nearly 10 points and over three-and-a-half assists per game in the NBA?
