A career-high 44 points from Dejounte Murray, including the game-winning shot in the last seconds of overtime, helped the Atlanta Hawks defeat the Boston Celtics 123-122 on Thursday night. In the extra session, Murray scored all 11 points for Atlanta, giving the Hawks a second win against Boston in as many days.
As per the NBA Website, De’Andre Hunter concluded with a double-double, scoring 21 points and collecting 13 rebounds, while Bogdan Bogdanović added 24 points of his own. All-Star Trae Young has missed 17 straight games due to a finger injury, but Murray has kept the Hawks in the hunt for the Eastern Conference play-in tournament. NBA supporters were moved by his bravery in the match vs Boston.
Interestingly, Dejounte Murray’s 44 points on 44 shots tied a record set by an unwelcome Bryant in 2002. It was the player’s lowest point total in at least those several attempts. In a 98-95 overtime defeat to the Boston Celtics, Bryant also recorded that stat. After 47 tries, he scored 41 points.
With 13 rebounds and 31 points, Jayson Tatum led Boston. Brown finished with 18 points, and Kristaps Porzingis scored 20. Before being cleared to participate, Dejounte Murray’s lower back pain was categorized as doubtful.
