The Sacramento Kings made a significant move by parting ways with head coach Mike Brown after a five-game losing streak. Brown now finds himself replaced by interim head coach Doug Christie. Christie is expected to lead the team for the remainder of the season. Ahead of Saturday’s game against the Los Angeles Lakers, Kings guard De’Aaron Fox shared his thoughts on the coaching change.
Fox acknowledged the volatile nature of professional basketball. While speaking with the reporters, the Kings star guard also mentioned the team’s expectations following Brown’s contract extension over the summer.
“We all know the job that we have. You can be traded at any point, released, cut, fired, or whatever it may be. I wouldn’t use the word guilt, but that’s the nature of the job that we have. Obviously, him signing his extension this summer, we thought we’d be together a whole lot longer, but that’s the decision that they made,” Fox said.
I asked De’Aaron Fox is there any pressure or guilt the players feel after the front office dismissed head coach Mike Brown:

“At the end of the day, he’s still getting paid. That’s the great part about being an NBA player or an NBA coach is those things can happen, but those contracts are guaranteed,” he added.
JJ Redick Reacts To Mike Brown’s Firing Before Lakers Vs. Kings Game
Ahead of the Los Angeles Lakers game against the Sacramento Kings, Lakers head coach JJ Redick shared his thoughts on the surprising dismissal of Kings head coach Mike Brown. Redick admitted he wasn’t privy to the details behind the decision but expressed his belief in Brown’s coaching abilities.
“Always had a great deal of respect for Mike as a human and as a coach. I knew this when I decided to do this. It’s a tough profession for job security. It’s what we signed up for. I don’t have any sort of inside knowledge of what led to that, but I believe Mike Brown is an excellent basketball coach,” Redick said.

Brown joined the Kings in 2022 and made an immediate impact, leading the team to an impressive season in 2022-23. His efforts earned him the prestigious honor of being named the unanimous Coach of the Year. Nevertheless, his coaching career ended abruptly due to the Kings’ lackluster showing in the last few games despite acquiring DeMar DeRozan this offseason.
