On Thursday, Dan Le Batard threw caution to the wind when he decided to go against ESPN policy on talking politics when he had to speak up on the recent rally of Donald Trump.
The ESPN radio host fired back at Trump and his supporters when members of the crowd chanted “send her back” in reference to Representative Ilhan Omar, a Democrat from Minnesota who was born in Somalia.
He also called out his own network for being silent on the issue as well as others political issues.
“There’s a racial division in this country that’s being instigated by the president and we here at ESPN haven’t had the stomach for that fight,” he said.
His comments appear to have made their mark, because on Friday, Le Batard was missing from his own radio show for over an hour.
He would not come on until the segment switched to speaking with MLB analyst Tim Kurkjian.

ESPN suspended former SportsCenter host Jemele Hill over her unwillingness to stop speaking on politics, which started with calling Trump a White supremacist and then telling fans online to boycott advertisers of the Dallas Cowboys over Jerry Jones’ announcement that players would be benched if they did not stand during the national anthem.
“Jerry Jones also has created a problem for his players, specifically the black ones. If they don’t kneel, some will see them as sellouts,” she wrote.
In a second tweet, Hill said, “If you strongly reject what Jerry Jones said, the key is his advertisers. Don’t place the burden squarely on the players.”
