Did Russell Westbrook play so badly that he is no longer looked at as NBA-worthy?
The Los Angeles Lakers point guard has been involved in trade rumors all offseason long, but not very many teams are wanting to deal with the former league MVP.
NBA insider Tim Bontemps apparently believes that Westbrook could be out of the league after his time with the Lakers comes to an end.
Bob Kravitz of The Athletic reported Friday trade talks between the Los Angeles Lakers and Indiana Pacers featuring Russell Westbrook, Myles Turner, and Buddy Hield are reportedly “dead.” He noted the discussions reached a “standstill” and will only be revived if the Lakers are willing to add a second first-round draft pick to their offer.
In the 2020-21 season, he averaged 22.2 points, 11.5 rebounds, and a league-high 11.7 assists per game for the Washington Wizards, who made it to the playoffs.
With the Lakers last year, he recorded 18.5 points, 7.4 boards, and 7.1 assists per contest while knocking down 44.4 percent of his shots from the field and 29.8 percent of his shots from behind the 3-point line. There were even some games that Frank Vogel, who has since been fired, couldn’t play him in the fourth quarter because his shot was terrible, his defense was bad, and he turned the ball over too much.
