While Damian Lillard has been widely expected to sign a two-year extension with the Portland Trail Blazers worth more than $100 million, sources tell Sam Amick of The Athletic that it is not a sure thing yet.
The Blazers still needed to have a strong offseason to persuade Lillard to extend through the 26-27 season when he’ll be 36-years-old.
Portland has acquired Jerami Grant and Gary Payton II while also re-signing Anfernee Simons and Jusuf Nurkic this offseason.
It appears that isn’t enough as Lillard has social media going crazy over his post on Instagram.
Lillard’s latest Instagram repost is from Sheer Laurel Promotions, a free promotional business helping small businesses build their clientele and following. The 30-second video discusses loyalty and its inevitable expiration.
“Loyalty has an expiration date. The problem is, when you’re the nice person, your loyalty lasts far longer to certain people than it should. Because their loyalty to you has been expired. But you, being the good person, you hang onto friendships and become forgiving far longer than you really should be.”

“Hard truth. Feed em with a slingshot,” Lillard captioned the video.
This could be 100% unrelated to Lillard’s relationship with the Trail Blazers, but it is really hard to ignore the message.
Lillard sent his biggest message earlier this week when he posted an edit of him alongside Kevin Durant in a Trail Blazers jersey.
This season, Lillard averaged 24.0 points, 4.1 rebounds, and 7.3 assists while shooting 40.2 percent from the field and 32.4 percent from beyond the arc.
