There is finally some clarity now on the never-ending trade speculation surrounding Portland Trail Blazers’ superstar Damian Lillard: The future Hall of Famer wants out.
According to a report from Shams Charania of The Athletic and Stadium, Lillard has requested a trade from the only NBA team he’s ever known. Charania added that the Brooklyn Nets and Miami Heat are among the front-runners for Lillard.
Lillard, who turns 33 years of age on July 15, has been the subject of trade rumors for several years now. Lillard admirably remained loyal to the organization that drafted him sixth overall in 2012, but the seven-time All-Star has finally decided that he’d like a fresh start.
There will be no shortage of teams interested in Lillard’s services. He’s one of the best all-around point guards of his era, and Lillard would instantly bolster any team’s chances of competing for a championship.
In 58 games last season, Lillard averaged a career-high 32.points along with 4.8 rebounds and 7.3 assists per game. For his career, Lillard has averaged 25.points, 4.2 rebounds and 6.7 assists per game.
