It was the shot heard around the world.
Portland Trail Blazers All Star Damian Lillard waited until the final seconds of the 4th quarter went down before he threw up a 40-footer to eliminate the OKC Thunder in Game 5 of the first round.
Even better than the shot was the cold blooded wave Lillard gave to the OKC Thunder as they made their way off the court. That shot changed the franchise forever as the Thunder would go into full rebuild mode, trading Paul George to the Los Angeles Clippers and Russell Westbrook to the Houston Rockets.
During a recent interview with Sports Business Radio, Lillard spoke on the game-clinching winner, saying, “What can I say? That was for Seattle.”
Lillard already garnered a bunch of fans from Seattle with the epic shot, but now he’ll have even more.
As you already know, the OKC Thunder were once the beloved Seattle Supersonics franchise that was moved to Oklahoma City in 2008. Fans have been fighting to get their franchise back ever since.
