The Miami Heat are reported to have a new offer in play for Damian Lillard.
Lillard’s current team, the Portland Trail Blazers, are in no rush to trade the All-Star guard and have made it clear that they won’t facilitate a deal if the trade package isn’t one they consider to be optimal.
The player only wants to go to the Heat and his agent has advised other teams not to try to trade for him as it’s unlikely he will report anywhere else. According to The Oregonian’s Aaron Fentress, the teams aren’t that far off on a deal.
Speaking on his ‘Blazer Focused’ podcast, Fentress said he heard the Heat have an offer on the table which includes sharpshooter guard Tyler Herro, as well as three first-round picks.
The Blazers, though, are thought to be keen on four first-round picks.
“If [Portland] can come out of this with four first-round picks, at least one, if not two, young talents, and then salary filler, that should get it done,” Fentress explained. “I’m told that right now, Miam has three firsts, Herro, filler, and maybe a young player already—like willing to go with that.”

The journalist also indicated that a third team could get involved if Miami is unwilling to add another first-round pick.
Lillard had remained loyal to Portland over the years but was reportedly ticked off by their refusal to trade their first-round pick for 2023 in exchange for a player who could help them win immediately.
