Portland Trail Blazers point guard Damian Lillard is thought to be a priority target for the Miami Heat this offseason. And the sharpshooter has fuelled the speculation as he seemed to tease a move to South Beach in a recent video.
Lillard popped up on Instagram Live this Friday laughing and smiling while Will Smith’s hit song “Miami” blared in the background. You could see it right below:
The clip obviously went viral, and it appears Heat star Jimmy Butler has responded to it by posting a screenshot of one of Lillard’s own tracks playing on his phone to his Instagram story.
While Lillard has been insistent on remaining loyal to the Blazers, his future is shrouded in uncertainty and no one would blame him for wanting to leave now.
The Heat are considered top candidates for the seven-time All-Star and the fact that the video surfaced a day after the NBA Draft seems suspicious. Portland added Scoot Henderson and Kris Murray but they’re not yet at the level of teammate the guard is thought to desire at this point in his career.

Dame’s agent, Aaron Goodwin, has since refuted claims of the player teasing a move to Miami.
Goodwin told The Athletic that the player is on vacation in Paris and was at a club when a DJ purposely played the song. He revealed the DJ also played Whitney Houston’s “I Wanna Dance With Somebody,” as it contains the lyric,” “I wanna feel the Heat with somebody.”
“The music was just a coincidence,” he explained. “Damian’s not disrespectful. He’s not an instigator, so he’s not going to do anything out of character. There would be no reason for him to do that. That’s why he laughed (in the video). It’s a funny coincidence that a DJ would put that on.”
