NBA sharpshooter Damian Lillard will be plying his trade for the Milwaukee Bucks next season, not for the Miami Heat as everyone expected.
Lillard was shockingly traded to the Bucks last week, despite having made it clear to the Portland Trail Blazers organization that he only wanted to go to Miami.
The Blazers were apparently not that interested in getting the guard to his favored destination and he was linked to the Toronto Raptors right before he ended up in Milwaukee.
The chatter provided OG Anunoby with the perfect opportunity to prank Lillard, who became desperate for information regarding his immediate future after receiving a certain text from the Raptors forward.
“I was on the phone, and I just got a random text from OG [Anunoby] like, ‘Welcome to Toronto.’ … and he’s always like messing around, like joking and stuff like that,” Lillard explained to TNT’s Chris Haynes. “We trained together in the summer a little bit, and he texted me like, ‘Welcome to Toronto.’ So I was like, let me call this dude and see, and I finally called him—he didn’t answer, then he called me back, he was laughing and I was like, ‘Oh, O.K.’”
Lillard played 11 seasons with the Blazers before demanding a trade this year after it became clear that they did not want to build a contending team. He will hope to capture his first ring playing alongside Giannis Antetokounmpo, with the Bucks now the betting favorites following their blockbuster acquisition.
