Luka Doncic solidified his superstar status with his phenomenal contribution this season and made it to the All-NBA First Team for the fifth time. With this latest achievement, he finally unlocked his Supermax contract extension but there’s a catch.
Luka will be eligible for a massive $346M contract extension over five years in the summer of 2025. Though the 25-year-old is worthy of the hefty paycheck, he is kept at bay as he didn’t complete his seventh season with the Dallas Mavericks as to be eligible for the deal, one has to play for seven seasons in the NBA.
The 5-time All-Star has a contract worth $215 million, ending in 2026. However, there is no certainty that Doncic would re-sign with the Mavs. For now, the Dallas franchise is riding the shoulders of Luka to succeed in their playoff run, and he has not disappointed them but rather led them to another victory on Wednesday.
Doncic Leads the Way in Mavs Victory
Luka Doncic exhibited remarkable energy at the Target Center with his outstanding performance securing the first win for the Mavs in the Conference Final series against the Minnesota Timberwolves.
The Slovenian guard opened the series by dropping a massive game-high 33 points coupled with 6 rebounds, 8 assists, 3 steals and a block. Luka impressed the fans with his skilful shots and displayed a glimpse of what he can offer in the rest of the series.

The guard hit 12 shots on target by attempting 26 from the floor, though he struggled from the deep and could manage to shoot 3-of-10. The former Real Madrid guard got incredible support from Kyrie Irving, who chipped in 30 points to help in the 108-105 win. Despite having doubters, the duo once again showed the magic they can create on their best days.
The Wolves started off stronger with a 7-point lead in the first half, but as the game rolled on to the other half, the sharpness in Anthony Edwards and Co. petered out. The Mavs have taken an early lead in the series, but the T’Wolves would surely try to tie it on Friday in Game 2.
