With their victory against the Miami Heat on Wednesday night, the Dallas Mavericks secured their fifth-ever Southwest Division title. They also secured a first-round playoff meeting with the Los Angeles Clippers for a third time in their previous five years.
Dallas Mavericks performed a defensive clinic en route to a 111-92 rout of the Miami Heat on the second night of a road back-to-back. This is something they have been doing frequently over the last month. Dallas achieved its second 50-win season in 3 years and won its sixth division title in the team’s history.
Irving said, “We know the job isn’t finished and we’re just getting started. We’ve done it in the regular season, that’s good and dandy, but now this is where the grown-ups start to use their IQ, start to use their emotional intelligence, their physical intangibles, and may the best man win.”
Irving added, “It means a great deal, because that was the first time I had dealt with failure at that type of level. Part of the human experience is not negotiating with yourself about what you want to achieve, it’s just going after it and I think that’s what we did this season.”

Dallas Mavericks will start their playoff run against an old foe, the Clippers because they have the star power, overall roster talent, and all the momentum in the world. The Mavs’ projected seeding, No.4 or No.5, remains to be determined as per the NBA Standings.
