The Dallas Mavericks and Minnesota Timberwolves reignited their Western Conference Finals rivalry on Wednesday night at the American Airlines Center. Without their star player Luka Doncic, the Mavericks fought hard but ultimately fell short in a nail-biting 115-114 loss to the Timberwolves. By dint of Jaden McDaniels’ remarkable performance, Minnesota managed to hold off a combined 66-point effort from Kyrie Irving and PJ Washington to secure the win.

Minnesota now sits at 23-21 for the season, holding the eighth spot in the Western Conference. The Mavericks share the same 23-21 record but are just behind the Timberwolves in the standings due to tiebreakers.

Jaden McDaniels’ Heroics Propel Minnesota Timberwolves Past Mavericks In Close Contest

Jaden McDaniels was the star of the night for the Timberwolves. McDaniels scored 27 points on 55% shooting, grabbed eight rebounds, and contributed defensively with four steals and three blocks. Anthony Edwards added 21 points, seven assists, and five rebounds.

Rudy Gobert was dominant in the paint. He contributed 14 points, six rebounds, and three blocks and shot a perfect 8-for-8 from the free-throw line. Veteran guard Mike Conley finished with 18 points, eight assists, and efficient shooting at 6-for-9 from the field.

The Mavericks struggled without Luka Doncic but received significant contributions from their key players. Kyrie Irving carried the offensive load, dropping a game-high 36 points on 57% shooting while also dishing out nine assists. PJ Washington stepped up with 30 points and seven rebounds. Daniel Gafford added 14 points and 12 rebounds in the loss.
