Dallas Mavericks were unable to stand against the Boston Celtics as they lost 138-110. Boston was simply too strong for the Mavericks to handle, as the green squad won for the tenth time in a row despite Luka Doncic’s outstanding stats. Following their victory against the Mavericks, Boston supporters did not hesitate to express their “hostile” sentiments towards Kyrie Irving, the former star of the Celtics.
Kyrie Irving and the Celtics share a very frosty relationship. The Boston faithful haven’t yet forgotten how the guard treated the team during his time with them between 2017 and 2019.
For the benefit of those who are unaware, the 6’2 guard committed to signing an offseason deal with Boston before the conclusion of his second season with the franchise.
However, Boston supporters felt deceived as Irving formed a tandem with Kevin Durant in Brooklyn rather than re-signing a contract with the Celtics. After the Nets defeated Boston in Game 4 during the 2021 playoffs, Irving proceeded to wipe his sneaker on the Celtics emblem, which exacerbated the situation and sparked even more animosity.
Since then, Kyrie Irving has had the case of shingles whenever he faces Boston. In Boston itself, he is 0-5 since that game. Overall, he has a record of 1 win and 10 losses since that fateful day. This includes today’s loss as well.
It turned out to be a true turning point for the Celtics.

The Boston fans also started chanting, “Kyrie sucks” during the final four minutes of the 4th quarter. With the outcome already decided, the Celtics faithful decided to give a “nice farewell’ to their former player.
In contrast to that, when the Mavericks faced the Cleveland Cavaliers pretty recently, he got a rousing welcome from the fans. Before the game, as the fans erupted in support of Irving, the eight-time All-Star was greeted with warm arms.
Boston Celtics remain first, kyrie irving’s Mavericks fall to seventh in the Western Conference
For the tenth time in a row, the Boston Celtics have defeated the Dallas Mavericks, extending their winning run. Boston is not concerned about locking up a postseason berth because they are currently leading the Eastern Conference.
For the Mavericks, though, the same cannot be true. Following their defeat over the Celtics, the Mavericks’ record for the season is currently 34-26. Despite having a 7th-place record in the West, Dallas could want to turn things around to guarantee a postseason berth, given the way certain teams are pushing late in the season.
