After losing in this year’s NBA Finals, the Dallas Mavericks are ready to dominate the upcoming NBA season and are eager to seize every opportunity to win the championship. They have begun their preseason preparations with the signing of former Golden State Warriors guard Klay Thompson to a three-year, $50 million contract. However, the Mavericks are still hoping to add more talent to surround and support their star player, Luka Doncic.
According to the recent reports by Marc Stein of the Stein Line, Mavericks are showing interest in Spencer Dinwiddie, Dennis Smith Jr., and Talen Horton-Tucker.
“Dallas could elect to keep the spot open in the short term, but league sources say that the Mavericks do hold an interest in re-signing Spencer Dinwiddie. League sources say that the Mavericks have also considered signing Dennis Smith Jr. and Talen Horton-Tucker.” Marc Stein stated in his report.
Dallas Mavericks Aim to Conquer the Next NBA Season With New Additions
In February 2024, Dinwiddie joined the Los Angeles Lakers after playing two seasons with the Brooklyn Nets. He averaged 3.0 points, 1.6 assists, and 1.4 rebounds in 5 games during the 2024 playoffs. After his contract with the Lakers expired, he became an unrestricted free agent in the 2024 offseason.
Meanwhile, Smith Jr. joined the Nets on June 21, 2017, and he averaged 6.6 points, 3.6 assists, and 0.2 blocks in the 56 games he played during the 2023-24 season.
On the other hand, Tucker joined the Utah Jazz in August 2022 after playing three seasons with the Lakers. He averaged 10.1 points, 3.5 assists, and 0.4 blocks in the 51 games he played during the 2023-24 season. Considering the talent of these players, adding them could benefit Mavs’ performance.
