Kyrie Irving went from scoring 39 while tossing insults and middle fingers at anyone who crossed his path during Game One on Sunday, to barely making a peep during his lackluster, 10-point performance in Game 2 tonight.
So, what gives? Why did Kyrie ditch the bad-boy approach that seemed to work so well for him in Game 1? Why wasn’t he getting into it with all the trash-talking Celtics fans this time around?
Apparently, there was a very good reason behind Irving’s sudden change in demeanor, and it has everything to do with his checkbook.
Based on an exchange that Irving had with some courtside fans, it appears as though Kyrie was keeping his mouth shut because all that talk was costing him too much money.
Irving was fined $50,000 for flipping all those birds during Sunday’s wild affair at the TD Garden. At one point, cameras even captured the Nets star telling a Celtics fan to suck his you-know-what while on his way to the locker room.
