The playoff series between the Milwaukee Bucks and the Indiana Pacers kept entertaining the fans even after the conclusion of the series because of the back-and-forth that went on between the stars of the teams, Patrick Beverley and Tyrese Haliburton. With Giannis Antetokounmpo ruled out, the Bucks’ miseries were compounded further, but that came to an end as the Pacers punched their ticket to the second round.
Despite the end of the series, Patrick Beverley did not let up as he took a shot at Tyrese Haliburton after the game. When the Bucks guard was asked in a locker room interview after Game 4 what he had observed while guarding opponent Haliburton, Beverley said, “Nothing. Check the numbers, think he’s shooting 19% from the three. If I gave you the ball for 41 minutes, you would have 10 assists also.”
The criticism didn’t go well with Haliburton, who brought the matter up after getting a 120-98 win in Game 6. He quickly channeled his inner Damian Lillard on X (formerly known as Twitter) to get back at Beverley. The Pacers All-Star guard wrote, “Con man. Flip from above the rim”.
Haliburton quoted Lillard, who wrote the same thing about Beverley before being teammates. The two had a clash last year when they were on their former teams, the LA Lakers and Portland Blazers. Their rivalry ended after wearing the same uniform and the two tried to pull their team to the second round of the series but failed.
Patrick Beverley’s Series by Numbers
Patrick Beverley hasn’t had a good round-one playoff series against the Pacers. While his shooting skills were more accurate, the numbers were less.
The 35-year-old opened the series with a 5-7-8 stat line while hitting 2-of-5 shots from the floor and 1-of-2 from the deep, but his team won. The numbers dropped to 5-4-3 in the following game coupled with 1/5 shots from the floor and three accurate ones from free throws. Beverley looked better in the third game, scoring 11 points, 3 out of 5 from the floor, and 4/5 free throws, but then again went back to 9 points in Game 4.

After facing three straight defeats, the Bucks looked in better shape in Game 5. The Pacers’ defense was too much for Beverly, but he managed to score a double-double, 13 points and 12 assists. However, he finished with 6-2-5 in their elimination game, shooting only 3-of-11 on target.
Now that the post-season tournament is over for the Bucks, Beverly can work on his skills so that he can give a response to Haliburton in the next season on the court rather than chirping in the locker room.
