Los Angeles Clippers star Paul George seems to be on the verge of leaving the team, sparking significant interest from other franchises, including the Golden State Warriors. However, recent reports reveal that a potential move for George to join the Warriors fell through.
According to The Athletic reporter Kim Kawakami, the Warriors were prepared to offer George a maximum four-year extension upon his arrival. Nevertheless, the Clippers did not let it happen.
“The Warriors had agreed to give George a max, four-year extension upon arrival. They believed they had proposed several variations of a trade that the Clippers could and would accept. Stephen Curry and Draymond Green were 100 percent on board. George gave strong indications he wanted to join the Warriors. But the Clippers never agreed to any version of a trade, and now George is a free agent and essentially beyond the Warriors’ reach,” Kawakami reported.
George has recently declined his $48.8 million option with the Los Angeles Clippers for the 2024–25 season. Meanwhile, Brett Siegel from ClutchPoints disclosed that while the Warriors had hoped to secure George, negotiations fell due to the Clippers’ high asking prices.
Clippers’ Three-Year Offer Leaves Paul George Exploring Options
The future of Paul George with the Los Angeles Clippers is uncertain due to contract negotiations. ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski revealed that the Clippers are only offering George a three-year contract, while he is seeking a full four-year, $221 million maximum contract. So far, the Clippers have been unwilling to agree to the fourth year.

With the new league year approaching, George is preparing to explore his options. He is set to take free-agent meetings with the Clippers, Philadelphia 76ers, and Orlando Magic.
The Philadelphia 76ers can create more than $60 million in cap space this summer. The Orlando Magic can also free up over $50 million in cap space.
This situation leaves George’s future with the Clippers hanging in the balance. If the Clippers remain firm on their three-year offer, George may decide to join another team willing to meet his demands for a four-year contract.
