The Los Angeles Clippers began their preseason with a tough 91-90 loss to the Golden State Warriors. However, the absence of their star player, Kawhi Leonard, due to ongoing injury concerns was a central talking point.
Leonard has been sidelined since Game 3 of the Western Conference Quarterfinals against the Dallas Mavericks. His ongoing injury issues have left the Clippers fans concerned about his availability for the upcoming season.
Despite his health uncertainty, Leonard seems to be taking his situation in stride. In a recent conversation with reporters, he shared his perspective on the bigger picture. Leonard clarified that his primary goal is not playing in all 82 games but rather leading the Clippers to a championship.
“As I get older, guys aren’t doing what I’m doing pretty much. You don’t see it around the league. Even when I was young… This is what I work for,” Leonard said.
“I strive to get a championship. I’m not out there to try to play 82 games. I’m trying to win. Even though that’s obligatory for me. I try to, but it hasn’t worked out,” he added.

“I feel good. Just been taking my time, getting stronger, and getting ready. We’re just taking it slow, day by day, and just trying to get me back on the floor,” Leonard said.
‘Once those conversations come, we’ll see what they’re talking about [on the best approach for back-to-backs],” he added.
Leonard is coming off a season playing the most games since the 2016-17 season. Last season, he averaged 23.7 points, 6.1 rebounds, and 3.6 assists in 68 regular-season games.
