The Los Angeles Clippers inquired about the availability of James Harden as they were desperately seeking a second star to pair with Kawhi Leonard, according to The Athletic.
The Houston Rockets wanted nothing to do with getting rid of Harden.
When that fell flat, the Clippers reached out to the Washington Wizards about Bradley Beal. That was also a no go.
The team would eventually settle on Paul George after Kawhi Leonard spoke with him personally and convinced him to come home to Los Angeles with him.
Leonard proved to be quite the recruiter as he also reached out to Kevin Durant and Jimmy Butler before they made their decision to join the Miami Heat and Brooklyn Nets.
