The Los Angeles Clippers won their first game of the new NBA season in a recent matchup against the Denver Nuggets. Clippers Guards Norman Powell and James Harden delivered dominating performances in the absence of star player Kawhi Leonard, who is sidelined due to injury. In addition to the intense gameplay, basketball fans were amazed after witnessing a key moment during the game.
Russell Westbrook, who joined the Nuggets in the offseason, faced his former team for the first time since being traded. Following the intense 109-104 victory, Harden was asked about his experience playing against his former teammate in a recent interview with The Athletic.
“We’re both inner-city L.A. kids. When it’s all said and done, we’ll be in the Hall of Fame. That’s a story right there. I’m happy he’s happy, and he’s playing well. He’s doing his thing here in Denver. So it’s always happiness when we see each other.” Harden told Law Murray of the Athletic.
Harden and Russell Westbrook first played together on the Oklahoma City Thunder from 2009 to 2012. They teamed up again with the Houston Rockets for the 2019-2020 season.
James Harden Praises Norman Powell’s Stellar Performance
James Harden and Norman Powell showcased impressive skills in the recent game against the Nuggets. Harden, the 2018 NBA MVP, scored 23 points and an outstanding 16 assists with six rebounds. Meanwhile, Powell delivered a dominating performance, scoring 37 points and grabbing three rebounds. Powell’s performance impressed Harden, who started praising him during a post-game interview.
“He’s done an unbelievable job on both ends of the ball… I was at that point one time where we embraced the betterment of the team as that sixth man role… But he has an opportunity, and he’s taking full advantage of it.” Harden said (Via Joey Linn).
