Paul George had long dreamed of leading the Los Angeles Clippers to an NBA title. However, before he could achieve that dream, George shifted his focus and made a significant move to the Philadelphia 76ers this offseason, which was reportedly influenced by financial advice from rapper Lil Dicky.
With George’s departure, many believe the Clippers might face serious challenges heading into the 2024-25 NBA season. Despite these concerns, Clippers head coach Ty Lue has issued a stern warning to those doubting his team’s potential. Speaking to ESPN’s Ohm Youngmisuk, Lue expressed his determination to defy the critics.
“When you lose a guy of Paul George’s stature, instantly people [think] Oh, they can’t win or they’re not going to be competitive. But that just challenges me even more,” Lue said.
“OK, people are counting us out or people don’t think we’re going to be good. That right there just gives me an extra dose of [motivation]. I can’t wait to prove everybody wrong,” he added.
Before leaving Los Angeles, George averaged 23.0 points, 6.0 rebounds, and 4.5 assists per game for the Clippers.
