Just when you thought Chris Paul wouldn’t be putting an OKC Thunder jersey on during the 2019-2020, things quickly changed as he is now expected to play for the franchise and he might be there awhile.
According to ESPN’s Adrian Wojnarowski, the Thunder are no longer looking to trade Paul as they have been unable to find a trade partner willing to take on his massive contract.
The veteran point guard is scheduled to bring in $38,506,482 next season and then a whopping $41,358,814 during the 2020-2021 season. His deal has a $44,211,146 player option in 2021-22.
That is a lot of money to try and move. The Miami Heat were considered to be a suitor for Paul, but those talks would soon die off as well.
For now, Paul will just have to get comfortable on a roster that is going to be in full rebuild mode.
