Chris Paul has been very consistent this season and his team Golden State Warriors played the Heat today. Though Heat lost by a huge margin, Paul was able to create a personal milestone for himself. He became the third player to reach 2,600 career steals when the only players present were Hall of Famers.
The two players preceding Paul on the all-time steals list are Jason Kidd (2,684) and John Stockton (3,265), both Hall of Famers. Paul’s current game, his 1,261st, surpasses Carmelo Anthony‘s count, securing him 32nd place on the all-time regular season games played list. His next target after Anthony is Hall of Famer John Havlicek (1,270).
Paul struggled mightily in the first half of today’s game, unable to generate any offensive momentum and committing some of his worst turnovers since joining the Dubs. Even so, his second half was strong enough to make up for his awful first half. He took over as the offensive coordinator and quarterback.

Despite being 38 years old, Chris Paul is still a productive player. In 46 games, he had averaged 9.4 points, 4.0 rebounds, 7.0 assists, and 1.2 steals. He also shot 44.3% from the field and 38.5% from three-point range. Miami was only able to muster 92 points thanks to the defensive mastery of the Golden State Warriors, which is the third-lowest point total the team has ever given up.
The Warriors were scoring points all over the court and the Heat’s defense could not keep up with them. They kept going after they had gained momentum in the first half, winning 113-92 in the end. Despite their improvement to 37-34, Golden State is still unable to move up the standings. But as the Play-In Tournament draws near, they’re getting going.
