Timberwolves head coach Chris Finch could be seen on Saturday at the Ball Arena even with his painful knee, as his team will face the reigning champions, the Denver Nuggets.
According to The Athletic’s Shams Charania, the HC will be near the team bench as the young Wolves squad starts their journey to the Western Conference semifinals. Finch suffered a torn patellar tendon in his right knee in Game 4 of playoff round one against the Phoenix Suns after colliding with his team member Mike Conley on the sideline, who was pushed by the Suns’ Devin Booker.
The game ended with a 122-116 win in favor of the Minnesota franchise, and with that, they punched their ticket to the semifinals. However, the night didn’t end well for their HC, who had to undergo surgery on Wednesday. The Timberwolves will make proper seating arrangements for Finch, as he wants to be near the court.
The Wolves haven’t had much luck in the postseason tournaments for decades, and this is the first time they have qualified for the second round since 2004. So, it seems fair for the man who guided them till here to be present on such a special day to boost his team.
In the absence of the 54-year-old, his assistant coach Micah Nori has taken care of the squad and will be seen in a bigger role.
Micah Nori to Fill In for Chris Finch
Nori has received another opportunity to display his skills with the talented Minnesota team. When Finch had an illness earlier in the regular season, Nori had taken over as the team went to play against the Cleveland Cavaliers in Ohio. However, it ended up in a defeat, which Finch still reminds the assistant.

Finch has already chalked out his game plans and conveyed it to the staff and squad on Tuesday as he met with them. “The best thing is just don’t mess it up. I’m not trying to change a thing,” added Nori. The team practiced with Nori on Wednesday and flew out on Thursday to face their biggest challenge of the season so far.
