The NBA is known for its thrilling unpredictability. This reality Oklahoma City Thunder rookie Chet Holmgren has quickly grasped in his first season.
The Thunder lost Game 5 at home to the Dallas Mavericks. They struggled to contain Luka Doncic and the Mavericks, which made their task even harder.
After the game, Holmgren reflected on his first NBA playoffs, sharing the harsh realities of the NBA.
“Nothing is guaranteed, anything can happen. You got to go out there and give it your all,” he said.
Despite the tough game, Holmgren’s efforts were undeniable. The rookie star has been a key player for the Thunder, both as a floor spacer and rim protector. This is especially impressive, considering he missed the entire 2022–23 NBA season due to a foot injury.

Nevertheless, Chet Holmgren already thinks his teammate is a humble player. Hence, he did not shy away from refusing to blame Gilgeous-Alexander and instead offered his support.
“I don’t know if words kinda do that justice. I feel like everyone has seen what he did not only in this series, this game but throughout the whole season,” Holmgren said.
The foul on Washington was indeed regrettable, as it allowed him to hit two free throws. It put the Mavericks up by one with just 2.1 seconds left.
Now, the Thunder must-win Game 6 on the road to force a critical Game 7.
