After three seasons with the Oklahoma City Thunder, Josh Giddey was traded to the Chicago Bulls in early July. Giddey made a move to the Bulls, biding an emotional farewell. He is expected to take on a more significant role with his new team.
However, not everyone is happy about this move, especially Thunder center Chet Holmgren. During an appearance on the Podcast P with Paul George, Holmgren shared his emotional reaction to Giddey’s departure.
“Man, I was f***ing hurt when I saw that Josh Giddey is not going to be on our team anymore. We all rock with him, that’s our dog, still is,” Holmgren said.
Giddey’s last season in Oklahoma City saw him average 12.3 points, 6.4 rebounds, and 4.8 assists for the Thunder. Despite his disappointment, Holmgren expressed his best wishes for Giddey in Chicago.
“He’s going to do great things in Chicago, so we’re excited for him,” Holmgren added.
Chet Holmgren Welcomes Alex Caruso to the Thunder After Josh Giddey Trade
Due to his reduced impact on the court, Josh Giddey was no longer a central figure in Thunder head coach Mark Daigneault’s future plans. As a result, Giddey was traded to the Chicago Bulls, and in exchange, the Thunder acquired Alex Caruso. Notably, the Thunder managed to bring in a proven winner like Caruso without losing a single draft pick.

On Podcast P, Chet Holmgren also shared his excitement for the move. Holmgren is optimistic about what the seasoned guard can contribute to the team.
“We’re also excited to have AC on our team now too; like you said, he’s a great defender; he makes shots; he always makes winning plays; he makes the right plays,” he added.
Caruso averaged 10 points, 3.5 assists, and 3.8 rebounds with the Bulls in those 71 games last season. The former Bills star shot 47% from the field and 40% from three.
