I’m sure you’re just like a ton of people who had no clue that Chauncey Billups was ever accused of sexual assault, but it did happen.
It has been reported this week that the Portland Trail Blazers will reportedly decide between Jason Kidd and Chauncey Billups as their next head coach, sources told Shams Charania and Jason Quick of The Athletic.
Damian Lillard prefers Kidd, while the franchise is leaning towards Billups.
“He’s all I’ve known in this league as a coach,” said Lillard about the team parting ways with Terry Stotts. “In nine years, you have your frustration in competition, but I enjoyed all nine years, and always played to give him the best chance to keep his job.”
As soon as that news came out, social media users brought up the fact that Billups settled a lawsuit with a woman who accused him of rape back in 1997.

Former Celtics players Ron Mercer and Chauncey Billups settled the lawsuit of a woman who said she was raped at the home of Boston F Antoine Walker in 1997.
Mercer and Billups, now with the Nuggets, agreed to pay the unidentified woman an undisclosed sum, the Boston Herald reported yesterday.
Walker has filed a counter-complaint against Mercer and Billups, but those records are sealed.
Walker’s lawyer, Nicholas Theodorou, said, “Antoine continues to defend the case vigorously.”
The woman said she was raped by Billups, Mercer and Walker’s housemate in a bedroom of Walker’s Waltham home after meeting the players at a comedy club.
No criminal charges were filed.”
After the Blazers lost in the first round yet again, Terry Stotts and the Portland Trail Blazers mutually agreed to part ways after nine seasons.
Billups left ESPN last November to join the Los Angeles Clippers as an assistant coach and is a rising star in the coaching world.
