TNT’s Charles Barkley refused to be overpowered by ESPN counterpart Stephen A. Smith during a joint broadcast on Thursday night.
Charles, who is one of the most outspoken television personalities in the sports world, made a promise to Stephen A. while they conducted a combined segment featuring ‘Inside the NBA’ and ‘NBA Countdown’. The former NBA superstar warned the ‘First Take’ host that he would whoop his A- if he tried speaking too loudly.
“Let me tell you something, Stephen A. If you come over here with all that loud A- talking, this ain’t ‘First Take’. This is gonna be the first to A- whooping your take if you come over here with that loud A- talk,” Barkley vowed.
Smith is known to get very loud when speaking on the ESPN show but Barkley let him know he would be having none of it, and Smith could only laugh as the threats were doled out.
Barkley could get very loud himself, and listening to them go head-to-head on a sports debate show would be incredible. It happened with Shannon Sharpe, so you just never know. But Smith is now fully aware that he’s going to have to tone it down whenever he’s around the former MVP.
