Since retiring from the NBA, Charles Barkley has become a well-known NBA analyst for TNT, especially through his work on “Inside The NBA.” Although he recently announced his retirement from TNT, Barkley has chosen to extend his tenure with TNT, though it came at a significant cost.
On “The Dan Le Batard Show with Stugotz,” Barkley revealed his staggering financial sacrifice to remain with TNT. When asked how much money he left behind to stay with the network, Barkley was candid.
“A minimum of $100 million. A minimum,” he answered.
The upcoming 2024-2025 NBA season will be the last one broadcast on TNT. Barkley had discussions with other networks, but the former Philadelphia 76ers star player decided to stay with Turner Sports. He shared his reason for sticking around.
“The number-one thing for me is that my people at Turner get to keep their jobs another year,” Barkley said.

“It was a great feeling, and I wanna thank all those networks for reaching out to me. It was really humbling and cool. Even though they were throwing crazy numbers—II was like, ‘Damn!’—but as long as I got my people safe at TNT, I feel really good,” Barkley said.
Barkley’s move is particularly notable given the show’s uncertainty in the upcoming season. As the program will no longer be associated with actual game broadcasts, there is a risk of a significant decline in ratings. Still, Barkley chose TNT to focus on the well-being of his colleagues and the future of the network’s programming.
