Following a distinguished NBA career, Charles Barkley became widely known for his insights as a co-host on TNT’s hit show “Inside the NBA.” In June, Barkley announced his plan to retire from television broadcasting after the 2024-2025 NBA season. However, it seems the 61-year-old has taken a U-turn on his retirement decision.
Despite his upcoming retirement, Barkley confirmed he will remain to have a key presence at TNT to fulfill his 10-year, $210 million contract. In a recent statement, Barkley expressed his gratitude and dedication to his TNT team.
“I love my TNT Sports family. My #1 priority has been and always will be our people and keeping everyone together for as long as possible. We have the most amazing people, and they are the best at what they do,” he said.
“I’m looking forward to continuing to work with them both on the shows we currently have and new ones we develop together in the future. This is the only place for me,” he added.
The future of ‘Inside the NBA’ remains uncertain, especially as TNT’s bid for NBA broadcasting rights was recently declined. Moreover, the NBA has already signed a new agreement with Amazon, leaving the show’s future in question.
