Kevin Durant will easily be at the top of every team’s list as one of the most coveted free agents to sign because of his insane talent that could change a franchise around immediately.
The New York Knicks are expected to pursue him aggressively come July, but he might not have it in him to deal with the criticism and pressure of New York, so says Charles Barkley.
The hall of famer had this to say about Durant possibly signing with the Knicks this offseason, Via SNY:
“Well I’d say, ‘Kevin you’re one of the greatest players I’ve ever seen. You’ve also got some of the thinnest skin I’ve ever seen. I don’t know if you’re made for New York City,” Barkley said on a conference call to promote American Century Championship golf tournament. “I think that would be the toughest aspect.
“If he’s arguing with these teenagers online, he’s not going to be able to deal with that New York media. He’s a great person, he’s a great player. I don’t think he has the mental makeup to play in New York, that’s just my personal opinion.”
He’s not lying. Durant has shown multiple times that he cannot take any type of criticism, whether it’s from grown men or women or teenagers trolling him on Twitter and Instagram.
The New York media is notorious for being extremely hard on their players, and nobody is immune from criticism.
