The Boston Celtics, Los Angeles Clippers and Washington Clippers have agreed to a blockbuster three-team trade that will see Kristaps Porziņģis head to Beantown.
According to Shams Charania of The Athletic and Stadium, Porziņģis will be going to the Celtics, while the Clippers will land veteran guard Malcolm Brogdon. Washington will get Marcus Morris and draft picks, including the No. 30 selection.
This is the first blockbuster trade domino to fall ahead of Thursday’s NBA Draft, with more sure to come. Needless to say, it’s quite the move that could change the landscape of the NBA landscape in 2024 and beyond.
For one, the Celtics land that much-needed third scorer to complement the young star duo of Jayson Tatum and Jaylen Brown. The 27-year-old Porziņģis has averaged 19.6 points and 7.9 rebounds per game in his eight-year career.
Last season, Porziņģis averaged 23.2 points, 8.4 rebounds and 2.7 assists per game on a non-competitive Washington team. He now finally gets the chance to pursue a championship working alongside two of the game’s top scorerrs.

For the Clippers, Brogdon fills the need for a playmaker and scorer in the back court. They haven’t been able to get over the championship hump in the Kawhi Leonard and Paul George era, but a player like Brogdon just might be the final piece needed to help the franchise embark on a deep postseason run.
*UPDATE*
The trade has fallen apart as the Clippers have backed out. The Wizards and Celtics will continue to try and work on a deal, however.
