In Game 1 of the NBA finals series, the Boston Celtics dominated the Dallas Mavericks with a score of 107-89. Kristaps Porzingis, the power forward for the Celtics, surprised everyone with his performance after returning from a calf injury at the TD Garden. Porzingis scored 20 points and grabbed six rebounds in his 21 minutes of play.
He had been out of action since the Celtics’ round one playoff series against the Miami Heat due to an injury in Game 4.
During the post-game interview, Porzingis opened up on the Boston environment in his return for Game 1. He mentioned that the game was insane and compared his tunnel walk to the WWE entrance walks.
“It was insane, I’m not gonna lie. Just walking in the tunnel, it was kinda like a WWE-style walk-in.” Porzingis said.
Kristaps Porzingis Makes a Remarkable Comeback After Injury
Kristaps Porzingis displayed his skills on both ends of the court. Celtics fans were uncertain when Porzingis returned to the court, but he proved why he returned for the NBA Finals. Meanwhile, Jaylen Brown, the current season Western Conference Finals MVP, scored 22 points, showcasing his consistent performance throughout the postseason.
Before game 1, Porzingis faced criticism from former NBA player Chandler Parsons, who mentioned that everyone booed Porzingis whenever he touched the ball and that no one likes him in Dallas. Despite this, Porzingis proved himself with his performance.
