With less than a week to go to the start of free agency, the Boston Celtics have clearly heard and seen enough to know that Kyrie Irving isn’t going to re-sign with the franchise, so they have already moved on.
By moving on, I mean they have already made his number 11 available to rookies.
During an appearance on WBZ TV, former Celtics forward Cedric Maxwell talked about Celtics rookie Grant Williams, who Boston selected out of Tennessee with the 22nd overall pick in the 2019 NBA Draft.
“He was looking at me talking about numbers which were available. He said number 11 was available…”
It has already been reported that Irving had basically ‘ghosted’ the Celtics with little to no communication in the weeks after the team was eliminated in the playoffs by the Milwaukee Bucks.
