Whatever Scottie Pippen had to say about LeBron James and Michael Jordan’s GOAT status, Carmelo Anthony is not sitting with that. It’s been a while since MJ’s former Chicago Bulls teammate fueled the fire in the debate. And it seems he might have to reconsider his choice.
Anthony recently made headlines for his candid remarks on the 7 PM in Brooklyn podcast. The former NBA forward fiercely defended both Jordan and LeBron against Pippen’s recent criticisms. Carmelo gave Pippen a recap of his time spent with Jordan at the Bulls camp. And the shared success they saw there.
“Come on, Scottie. Like, let’s not do this, B. And you can’t do this every time, though, Scottie. My n***a, like, you done been in the bunker with MJ. You done been in the trenches with this guy. You signed up for the breakfast club, n***a, for six years. Like, you was part of that. Don’t take that away from the guard now, after all these years, whatever feelings you feel about him. Like, n***a, that is who it is. That’s MJ, n***a, like, you know what time it is with that,” Anthony said on the podcast.

Although, he hilariously suggested leaving the Los Angeles Lakers superstar alone. Anthony asked Pippen even if he has any issues with LeBron, he could not put Magic Johnson above him.
“You can’t keep MJ the GOAT this day, and LeBron is the GOAT better than MJ the next day. Oh, six years later, you know what? F**k both of them n****s. Magic is the GOAT. N***a, Magic been the GOAT. You could pay homage and respect to n****s without putting one of them down,” he added.

Scottie Pippen Earlier Blasted LeBron James For Individual Accolades
Although, Pippen made a puzzling remark earlier. He openly criticized LeBron James and particularly focused on his individual accolades. During a candid appearance on the PBD Podcast, Pippen did not hold back, asserting that neither LeBron nor Michael Jordan deserves the top spot in NBA history.
“My success as a team is more successful than LeBron’s. I got six rings,” he said earlier. “I don’t know, do you want individual accolades, or do you want championships? ‘Cause I didn’t chase mine,” he later added.

Instead, he championed Magic Johnson, praising the Lakers legend for his exceptional leadership and ability to elevate his teammates in critical moments.
“Magic Johnson, to me, is a bigger GOAT than anybody because of how he led, how he brought a whole team, how when the greatest scorer in the game, Kareem, was not there and him as a rookie steps in and plays a position that no one even knew he could play. That’s transcending what you can do as a player,” Pippen said.
While he also acknowledged Jordan’s greatness, he has candidly discussed the challenges of their partnership during their time with the Chicago Bulls. Pippen described Jordan as “a very difficult person to deal with,” hinting at the tension that has developed over the years.
